At Wooranna Park Primary School we are committed to building a culture of respect and responsibility. We show this in the way we use technology and interact online. We teach our students about responsible digital behaviours, including how to recognise and respond to online dangers and threats. We support students to develop the digital skills they need to make a positive impact in the world. We are intentional and discerning about our integration of digital tools into the curriculum, providing rich, interactive and personalised experiences, while ensuring a balance with offline learning opportunities.
Please ensure you complete the Acceptable Use Agreement annually, helping you and your child to understand the expectations when using technology and interacting online.
Our teachers use Essential Assessment to assess each child's Zone of Proximal Development (Point of Need Learning). Once this is established children have access to a variety of My Numeracy learning tasks where they earn stars to show mastery of concepts in order to move to the next level in their learning. This program also gives them access to Sunset Maths, which is a rapid recall activity to build up automatic response in the 4 processes (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). As most parents and carers are aware, the teaching of reading and comprehension within the classroom is only one component of a child's learning. Parents and carers, play a vital role in supporting their children to become fluent readers who can confidently apply their reading skills across all areas of their lives. Providing opportunities for your child to read at home for just 15 minutes a day is one way you can support your child’s reading growth at home.
To help families with this, and to ensure that all Wooranna Park children have access to quality readers and texts to read at home, every student has an account with Sunshine Online. Feel free to explore the Sunshine Online library at:https://www.sunshineonline.com.au/about
Typing Club is the most effective way to learn how to type. It is web based and highly effective. TypingClub is (and will always be) free for individual students.
Times Tables Rock Stars is a maths programme that takes all the worry out of learning times tables and has a proven track record of boosting children’s fluency and recall in multiplication and division
